Doesn't wash all the oil out of hair so scalp doesn't feel tight and dry (especially important in winter). Has no strong odor. If my hair is still wet when I see my mom, she'll complain that I have a "wet dog smell" - let's face it, that's definitely the smell of a wet human. My point is that it doesn't have the typical shampoo scent. That being said, I've checked with everyone I know and the consensus is that there doesn't seem to be a "wet dog smell" unless you sniff my head while my hair is wet. My mother must have an extremely sensitive sense of smell. Anyway, I'm pretty sure I have a socially acceptable smell or lack of smell and this shampoo is great.
