I bought this pillow because of my TMJ. Even though I wore a heavy-duty mouthguard when I slept, I still had issues with my TMD. I read somewhere that it could be related to the position of the head - and in fact my head started to loll to one side during sleep, that's the side where I had the most pain with TMD. The problem is that while you're sleeping, you don't have much control over where your head falls. I tried pulling blankets over my head but it didn't work. So I looked for a U-shaped pillow with ribs to hold my dangling head in place and found this one. She works! My neck is supported by a downward arch and the bumpers are far enough apart/close together that when my head starts to shake it hits them like little bumpers and holds me in place. The magic pain relief and added anti-wrinkle part doesn't hurt either. Two thumbs up.
