This TV stand was a pleasant surprise. It is made very well, with heavier, better quality pieces than your standard Ikea shelving units. It looks great, and the cube design is really nice in that it is off-centered and gives a good detail (not your standard boring cubes). Once put together it's a good quality item. However, be prepared to spend time putting it together because it comes with a lot of hardware. For the beginner, you may need a bit of help. For anyone who has put furniture together before, just be prepared to have bags of screws. Having said that, it is well worth the time and effort. Easy enough to do, just takes a bit of time. The wood pieces arrived with no damage, painted perfectly (black) and no flaws. The design has a "lip" around the bottom so that the shelves do not sit directly on the floor (a very nice design detail!). Overall a 5 star shelf. Good item for the price.
