First of all please note that this is a small umbrella. This is for one person and then a little. But if you fit in, it will surely get the job done. Its extension/retraction mechanism is excellent and has never let me down. The beauty of retracts is that when fully extended, they retract. So if you get in your car and hold your umbrella out in front of the door when you push the button, you won't get wet like you're at the end of a pole. It also keeps out rain very well. Shake everything well so that it becomes more or less dry. Along with the included case, you get a dry pack that you can easily slip into your purse or back pocket. It's probably desirable to some extent to "succumb" to the wind a bit, but it feels flimsy, which I don't like. It's small. Small enough that I can put it in the back pocket of my jeans (it sticks out but doesn't get in the way). If you have a wallet larger than a clutch, this is a good choice.
