Review on Powerful and Portable: Streamlight 66604 ๐Ÿ’ช MicroStream USB 250-Lumen Rechargeable Pocket Flashlight in Black by Ted Boone

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Tiny, stiff tail switch but very light and bright for its battery size

First my flashlight came in a plain white box marked 'Made in China' and came with cord, strap and instructions. I wasn't impressed and after reading some interested reviews and that Revain has the same item under a different part number (66601) I realized it was intentional and seemed genuine. The PDF part number listing on the Stream Lights website for this 66604 model shows it comes in a box. 66601 is supplied in a clamshell blister. My guess is that perhaps non-consumers (police, rangers, etc.) should just buy in bulk and not bother with fancy retail packaging that's also difficult to open. Anyway, the light is great. It's a lot smaller and lighter than I thought, it's not bulky in my bag, and it fits in my backpack's pen pockets. The two modes are bright enough for a small flashlight, the brightness is probably level 2 or 3 out of 5 on my fenix flashlight. It's enough to find something outside in the dark. The charge barrel is new to me but is pretty smooth compared to the rubber boot. It doesn't close 100% if you push it straight in, but twist it a little and it closes perfectly evenly. The handling and the overall feeling are very pleasant. The only drawback is the rear derailleur. I haven't had it in a few weeks so can't comment on others if it fails, but I agree that it's quite difficult to jam with your thumb. I usually have to use my index finger or the thumb bone or the thumbnail, which means for the index finger I have to switch positions back and forth with it. Once on and locked it's fine, very light and decently bright. BTW, mine starts out low but double-clicking sets it to high quickly. That is, without blocking it, quickly press twice quickly and it will go high, then press a little more to block it. To get back to low, all you have to do is turn off the device for a second or two. It will not "double" back to low. I think the coyote color starts high and vice versa. Overall I would buy it again.
