I bought this mouse because of the wavy design (the promise of an ergonomic and comfortable design) and the shape of the mouse to replace my expired MK710 whose mouse just decided that it wouldn't scroll anymore (yes it was regularly dumped when my cats decided to help me with my work) I've been using Logitech for longer than I care to say and have usually been happy with it. I'm not good with my keyboards and I'm not a good product owner. I eat over it, put toast and chips on it, pick it up and run a spray bottle over it if I spill a sweet sticky drink or spill coffee etc. They usually last a lot, and when they die, they were good soldiers, and death doesn't bother me. BUT NOT THAT. Although I carefully checked the wireless range specifications before purchasing, it did not work as expected or advertised. I don't use it on a desk, I use it on a desk about 10ft across the room, but it should have worked better than it actually does. And it sucks because my husband warned me not to buy it, but I did my homework! If I had to guess, could the performance error be due to older Bluetooth technology? .but whatever the reason, this is a far inferior product when you need wireless to literally bridge the distance and capture exactly what you're typing. There was insane typing lag, to the point where I was typing at normal speed and almost ending up in gibberish as some characters registered and others just didn't. I've tried troubleshooting on the geek forums to no avail. In a pinch, I even tried the manual ;) . no determination. I can't stand such bad reception/work. When I say you literally couldn't type an exact sentence, trust me, without insanely slow, intentional typing to materialize the characters. Talk about keyboard anger in about 2 minutes! In the first week of trying to figure this out, or live with it and honing my inner patience, I gave up, went to the local BB and bought another MK710, significantly cheaper than I paid for the Desktop 4000 - and it works Great. If you're working at a desk with a USB/tower next to your keyboard, this product might not behave badly, but I personally recommend doing plenty of research online about latency, distance, and performance issues. As for me, I'll only buy locally from now on (so I can return it for an exchange or refund without delay) and stick with the MK710 to find something that responds without a hitch. I couldn't be more disappointed. I wanted this keyboard to work. I didn't send it back, although honestly I should have. Excrement ranked first in performance. Boo.Logitech could have done better. Oh wait, they did. with a simple Jane MK710.
