I bought this Dutch casserole over a year ago. When I bought it for the first time, I was thrilled. Le Creuset charged around $300 for a similar Dutch oven. Anyway, I've used it about a dozen times, and due to this low amount of use, I've experienced the following: 1. The outer enamel coating has taken on a chalky, powdery appearance. Rust began to appear around the edge.3. The internal enamel coating isn't cracked, but some look thinner if that makes sense. Parts of the cabin have acquired an almost translucent appearance. This can only mean one thing: part of the inner coating has come off and gotten into my food. I didn't use any abrasives. I haven't used this pot more than a dozen times. I didn't put it in the dishwasher. I haven't subjected it to sudden changes in temperature (e.g. immediately removing the hot pot from the stove and putting it in the sink with cold water). This is a poorly made pan and potentially dangerous. If my eyes do not deceive me, the enamel coating is wearing off. It's just not safe. Save money and buy a better pot like Le Creuset. People have been wearing Le Creuset pots for years and have had no such problems.
