Review on ๐ŸŽง Bose QuietComfort 35 Headphones Ear Cushion Kit - Enhancing Comfort with Black and White Options by Kurt Ahui

Revainrating 3 out of 5

NOT identical to original QC35 pads; they still work; complex installation

My QC35's original right ear cushion started to peel off at the bottom edge and soon fell apart completely. Links remained in "like new" condition. Why the difference? I do not know. Replacement pads, supplied by Adorama via Revain, came in a pretty box marked "QC35,WLSS,CUSHION KIT W/SCRIM,BLK,WW. DESIGNED IN THE USA, MADE IN CHINAโ€ and sealed with Bose logo tape. Only the right mesh and ear pads replaced. Scream looks completely identical to the original. Installation requires careful placement: it doesn't steer into position and you need to line it up properly in the speaker bowl. The pillow attachment is finicky: Tiny plastic tabs are hidden by the pillow's base as you move around the perimeter, and the base is firm and thick enough that it takes an uncomfortably amount of force to 'click'. from pens. I resorted to a plastic scribe to apply pressure to the base's strategic points near the prongs. Finally, the new right pad is quite different from the original left one. The new pad has blue instead of green foam; doesn't matter, the new one is actually about 2mm less "chubby" than the original. That said, the diameter of the new pillow tube is noticeably smaller than the original. Does it feel different or does it work differently? No, I feel it, but obviously the people who developed this in the US didn't work closely enough with the people who did it in China.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
