Review on 🎨 Convenient & Compact: Guerrilla Painter Backpacker 6 by 8 Covered Palette Tray by Denise Davis

A very popular palette.

I've tried several small palettes and this one is the clear winner. When I paint with acrylics in Texas in the summer, it can be a big challenge to keep my paints wet without ending up turning into lightly colored water. Other pallets leaked when tipped, shaped or dried, or I encountered the Goldilocks "too big, too small" problem. This palette is true to size. In terms of durability, I've never had an issue with this palette. To set it up I cut out a damp sponge, boiled the same brand of paper and laid it down, applied some paint and went out with it many times. I usually either put it in the freezer or clean it after the session. However, my kids and I recently went away for the weekend. We visited a few parks and brought my outfit, painted some trees and fields. Everything stayed nice and fluid while we worked, then we closed it, finished our weekend, finally came home and I immediately forgot to take the palette apart and clean it. I opened everything up to draw some simple gradients tonight. , and was surprised that 1) I had forgotten to clean the palette and most importantly 2) at room temperature the color was still fully holding after almost two weeks. I even used the last red and yellow to draw a small (5x7) gradient. "Color" struck me (ha! bad pun rule!). I didn't intend to put it through such a test, but I'm very happy with the results no matter what. And yes, it's a little tight. A spatula or fingernail opens it immediately. I applied petroleum jelly to one corner and marked with a marker. Provides an easy way to break the seal.
