This item is cool. I really like it and it works exactly as advertised. However, he is very sensitive, do not even breathe next to him, otherwise the scales will jump. I'm new to this level of recording fun so it's a bit intimidating at first, but check out the YouTube video. They take it apart to the point where they show you how to open the battery door, insert the battery and then close it. I think if you need help this is too advanced a tool for you but they are very informative and will go over every detail with you. After all the anticipation, research, and fiddling, I was just disappointed with how quickly I was able to adjust the weight of the toner arm. I had a feeling there would be fireworks and a bigger show than it was. Would highly recommend to everyone from over-the-top anal experts to nervous newbies.
