Review on 🐴 Cashel Quiet Ride Fly Mask with Ears and Extended Nose by Brenda Naple

horses love it. for pest control

I have a small head, 15hh QH and 15.1hh Old Stock Morgan. I have previously purchased these full horse size masks and loved them. I'm still using them into this 3rd summer. This time I bought a Cob/Arab size for my two girls. The neck strap wraps around my Morgan's neck with just an inch or two to fasten. But I like that the nose net fits better than with a full face mask. Although the full size of the horse was my QH, the net extended past the tip of the nose and dragged along the ground when grazing. It held up well even though it was too long. No scuffs, scrapes or breaks. I have found that the butt/Arabian sized nose extends just above the nostrils giving good muzzle protection from flies and mosquitoes but does not cover the nostrils. I love that they have ears to keep those mosquitoes and nematodes out. I use these masks for grazing use because my girls are not picky and don't pull the masks over each other. They are also great for trail riding. I rub the mask with some SWAT repellent to keep the flies from flying off the masks themselves. I do this before putting the masks on my horse's heads to prevent the repellent from sticking together and risking melting in their eyes. They also come in handy as a safety precaution when towing. In terms of comfort, none of my girls ever try to take their mask off. They actually come to me when they see that they are in my hands. The only suggestion I have is that I want the area around the eyes to be more generous so the mask is a little farther from the eye. But it doesn't seem to bother my girls, so it might be more my personal preference than theirs.

Pros
  • Clear mesh gives your horse a clear view of the trail
Cons
  • Empty
