Review on NOJ Quiet Rider Helmet Weather by Michael Maes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Significantly reduced wind noise on the motorway!

The idea of buying a skirt for a helmet (which I have not decided yet) came to my mind when I was driving on the highway at high speed and put my hand (palm open, fingers stretched out , palm down) under my chin and noticed an immediate reduction in road/engine/wind noise. Removing my hand resulted in an immediate increase in noise. This NOJ skirt was snug and it took some effort to get it between the shell and foam of my HJC FG-17 helmet, but I'm sure it won't stretch normally. use. I didn't use the included velcro because I didn't think there was enough room for the velcro + the thickness of the tucked lip. Driving around town was eerily smooth - I can/will get used to that. On the freeway I could tell there was a significant noise reduction at my normal cruising speed of 75-80 mph and that's where this product shines. My "manual test" showed no difference in noise. The only downside is the extra seconds it takes to put on or take off the helmet. My experience was on a fully faired sport touring bike. I have yet to try this on a more open bike.
