Review on πŸ“· Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G3 16 MP Interchangeable Lens Camera with 3-Inch Touch Screen LCD (Body Only) - Micro Four-Thirds by Fernanda Brown

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A very good camera on camera & photo

I bought it at a very good price in early 2013 after the release of the G5. My only other Micro Four Thirds camera is the E-PL1, which I bought refurbished to see if I liked the format. Initially I was gravitated towards the Olympus because of the built in optical image stabilization which I think is quite important. But after buying two Panasonic telephoto lenses with optical image stabilization built in, I saw this camera for sale, just the body, with a built in viewfinder and flash, and I realized it had a lot of things, so I bought it. In general I am very satisfied. I love photographing seagulls in flight and this camera focuses on them quickly. Sometimes I pre-focus on the water below them and then go to the birds to get an approximate distance down as it helps when photographing distant birds. The pictures taken are sharp and mostly well exposed. If not, feel free to play around with exposure compensation if needed. The keys are mostly well placed. Maybe a bit close together, but there's nothing you can do with a camera this size. and the wheel on the back is pretty useful, as is the touchscreen. I thought touching the screen to focus and take a photo in one step was some kind of trick until I used it, now I think it's a great feature. The only thing that bothers me about the camera is the position of the video button. I've done quite a few films by accident. As far as I know it's been pushed to the G5, which is good. But this camera was less than half of what I bought, so erasing the film from time to time isn't a big deal. very good photos and if you can find one at a good price it's worth buying.

Pros
  • understandable even for an old man
Cons
  • A bit of spare change
