I don't know if I got a fake or not. I first entered the number on the Rode website to register the warranty and after I clicked the register button a green tick appeared so I assumed Rode had the serial number. I never completed the process because Rode wanted me to create an account. After testing the microphone with various mixers and cables, but still with high noise levels, I had to do without it. unusable. I suspected the mic might be fake so I went back to the Rode website and found a serial number and still got the green tick. The lesson is that Rode's green tick means nothing, so don't rely on it for authentication. It is possible that completing the registration process completely or contacting Rode directly will yield different results.
