I am a big fan of the Oxo containers and have bought several other versions. This is my first version of this redesigned cover and I honestly hate it! It is NOT airtight if you take the container by the lid and the lid slips off even if you don't lift it. The button makes a weird loud click when you press it and the rubber part that has to expand to close the jar lid barely works, I literally had to take the lid and place the rubber part against my finger. to make sure it expands, but it only gets as thick as a fingernail, which isn't enough to fit the container snugly. The sealing mechanism is different in this version, sorry but for me it's a cheaper dumb version of what worked fine before! were remade for the same seal under the caps which I don't think they have as I only bought it about 4 weeks ago) they are really tight I can lift them by the cap and it doesn't come loose , I can even try to take it off when it's sealed and I can't get the lid off. I believe they cost $4-5 more per container than these newer versions, but the extra cost is worth it!
