Bad engineering! good for me

I work as a paramedic and recently broke my basic BP cuff after 4 years of use. I bought this cuff due to it being smaller and easier to use. It's is both of those things but its fatal flaw comes in where the cuff tube mounts to the pump handle. The tube has a small, plastic nipple that is pressure fitted into a plastic hole in the handle. The nipple is very thin and only goes in about half way. This pressure fit of a 1/8 inch nipple is all that connects the cuff to the pump handle. I do not give it long before I break it there. I have to undo the handle every time I roll it back up to put in my jump bag. The tube has outside threads but there is nothing to screw those into. Looks like they had a plan to have it screw in but ran out of development time and left the threads off of the pump handle. I would not recommend this product for anyone in the pre-hospital medical field. It is a weak, flawed design.

Pros
  • The instrument is user-friendly, with clear instructions for use included
Cons
  • Bulky and difficult to store
