Easy to use and great countertops

I installed our soapstone countertops 6 months ago. My interior designer tried to talk me out of it because she said her friend's countertops were always dirty and oily. But I knew I liked the look of soapstone and discovered this product straight away, so I can't even compare it to mineral oil. Here's what I learned: Apply as thin a layer as possible - I use my fingers and the heat helps spread the wax across the table in a thin layer. Wipe off the excess and buff the next day (I used a microfiber glove). Next, and this is really important when waxing for the first time - they take days to properly cure. DO NOT get them wet or you will leave a water stain. They will be fine in about 5 days, but two weeks is ideal. That doesn't mean you can't use them - just don't get them wet (I'll cover them with a towel if I have to work in a few days). It is best to apply the wax directly in front of you. To go on vacation. That's why people have problems at the sink: the wax just doesn't set enough before they get wet. My sink looked the same as the rest of my counters. After this initial epilation, the same rules apply, but I think the water spots are a little less noticeable. After 6 months and 3 uses they look almost as good as when they started. I noticed they were starting to look a bit dull and just got re-waxed. But this material is very easy to work with and the counters always look great. And a little goes a long way!
