This is the second bag I've bought in about a year - it lasted A LONG time but eventually one of the belt hooks broke. I was going to glue it with a glue gun like the other loop, but another loop ended up separating from the material, taking the clasp with it. I'm pretty strict with pockets - they hold a lot of stuff (I'm a science teacher and the front phone pocket is actually used for the voice recorder I use to record shows at the planetarium). so it's time for a new one. It came in a plastic bag but I noticed that as soon as I opened the Revain box there was an awful fishy smell. When I opened the plastic bag, WOW! The smell was much worse. On the SECOND wash, after soaking in OxyClean for a few hours, most of the smell was gone. I think the smell was part of the dye for this (there was no noticeable coloring in the water), but the smell was in the water. Instead of putting it in a gas dryer, I put it in front of an air purifier/dryer overnight. It still smelled a bit but most of it was gone after a day and I'm wearing it now. The one I bought about a year ago wasn't like that at all. It's very durable and well stitched, and (as others have said) I'm glad it doesn't have velcro. I have another pocket for the left side and I really liked the velcro on this pocket because it held a driver's license, credit cards, etc - things I often need several times a day. The zippers were ok on both models. I wouldn't understand but the one that came in that particular amount/batch really stunk to high heaven.
