Looks good but has quality issues

I bought them for cycling because of the bend in the knees and back. I have been a motorcyclist and former road racer for over 30 years and would never wear jeans to ride a motorbike. If you've ever had a rash, it's no fun and the cotton crumbles like soft cheddar cheese on asphalt. 2 stars not because of dislike for these motorcycle pants, but because of quality issues. These pants have many sewn panels and pockets. and if you turn them inside out you will see that the tailoring is very bad and the thread used is doubtful. I'm sure something will fall apart in a year if not sooner. I washed them first and when I opened the lid of the washing machine I smelled a strong chemical smell. The smell is all cotton now but appears to be coming from the front pockets which are made of synthetic fabric. The remaining bags are made of cotton. I've washed them 3 times and still can't get rid of the chemical smell. To top it off, my washing machine stunk so I had to run a cleaning cycle on the machine. But the knee pads and hip pads are better than expected. High quality rubber compound and density. They offer good protection against bruises when starting off at low speed, even if the cotton seat is torn quickly. Size M fits me, I wear jeans 33/30 and they fit perfectly at the waist and lower torso. The inseam was a bit long for me but not too bad, maybe 3/4" too long. Do yourself a favor and spend more on Kevlar-lined jeans if you prefer this style and don't want to wear leather .
