It looks like a simple computer stand. I wanted something to hold my laptop and give me the flexibility to record video using the laptop's camera. This stand did a great job. The extension features are easy to set up and feel secure. I don't feel like it's going to suddenly collapse on me. The only downside I see is that the platter is a bit loosely attached to the top of the stand and tends to wobble and wobble a bit while typing, which when you need to film and type yourself is too much Shaking can result in the video. But I rarely have to type much while making videos, so it's not a problem for me. If that were the case could I add tape or some other solution to stabilize it. Not sure what they could have done differently. The tray is big enough for a 17 inch laptop but doesn't have room for a mouse. As my laptop has a touchpad like most, this isn't a deal breaker and I knew that when I bought it so it's not a negative, just thought I'd mention it. There is a small foam insert in the tray, to help protect a laptop, but it's cheap, basic foam and I reckon it'll probably fall apart quickly with lots of wear and tear, but so far so good. It's detachable and nice to have. So if you take it out or use any other kind of padding you would be fine. Overall it's well made, seems sturdy enough, and is easy to adjust and move around. I'm happy with that.
