Review on πŸ”˜ Honeywell Ceiling Fans 50603 Eamon Modern Ceiling Fan: Remote Control, 52” Bronze by Lexi Mastandrea

Revainrating 3 out of 5

My expectations are beginning to be fulfilled

This fan is installed. Quite easy. When I took out the cellophane blades I was a little worried. They seemed so small and light and looked more like a child's toy than a professionally made household appliance, but lately I've gotten a little used to the degrading quality of everything. Lately everything I buy now seems to have more to do with profit than durability. After about an hour the air seemed to be moving quite nicely. It didn't wobble or make any noise. I had to bring a light from another room to be able to see anything because the light was no brighter than dim. The fan I was looking to replace in my bedroom had been there for about 15 years and was starting to tire. He was shaken too many times and he stopped squeezing the air. The old fan's light was sometimes too bright, but I only had to remove or unscrew one or two of the 5 existing bulbs. My old fan blades were bumped, bumped, bumped, punctured and still worked perfectly. Had to bend back a few sheets as they were bent after dropping the fan on the bed during installation but they still worked great. After about 2 hours I finished the laundry and started making the bed. I'm not sure if you're like me when you're making your bed, throwing sheets and blankets in the air to land them in exactly the right place, and tucking the bed in and then making it. I had almost everything I needed; I could see again because the lamp from the other room made it bright enough. I felt comfortable with a nice, gentle breeze as I made my bed by tossing the sheet over the bed in the air. I heard a loud snap as my sheet caught on one of the fan blades on my new fan. It's okay, I said to myself. My other fan got hit by my sheets, blankets, a cat toy, and even my head once or twice when I awkwardly stood too high without thinking and banged my head against the wooden blades. This time, however, was different. The fan was still rotating, but fluctuated heavily. So I turned it off and took it apart. I found that one of the blades had come loose from the nuts that attached it to the motor and it was obvious that this blade would no longer rotate smoothly. As a typical guy, I hate giving things back. Especially if the installation takes an hour. So I glued the blade in the screw hole and epoxidized it and it will probably last longer than the other two blades. The problem is that I can't understand why anyone would do anything with a big motor, a device that can hit. adult thing (as opposed to kid) and paper mache fan blades once or twice in your life? So my expectations have been dwindling lately. To put it mildly.

Pros
  • Stable construction
Cons
  • Too blunt
