Review on πŸ’ͺ Razer Nabu X Black Smartband by Gary Christon

Revainrating 2 out of 5

I would avoid it.

To be clear the product is really cool but it worked about 2 months after I received it. I'm in talks with Razer support but they want Revain to fix the issue because I bought it through them. ***** After customer service ************** I would like to update this after speaking to customer service. Got a new band, I just had to pay shipping once I got the RMA number. The problem with this is twofold: 1) There is a proprietary charging cable that plugs into the USB port. I hate proprietary cables, but the first one I encountered was poorly made, the USB connector housing was not secured. I had to remove the plastic and then unplug the cable from the USB port. It wasn't a deal breaker, but there's not a single cockroach theory. Bad sign. Using a cable, it is recommended to charge the device while working on the computer, because the second malfunction 2) is very easy to damage from overcharging. Once the battery fails, everything: data, notifications, charging time - it all goes down the toilet, and in my case it was a race to see what happens first - will I overcome any customer service barriers or the smart bracelet will stop working entirely. As for the cascade of errors, the sleep track stopped working, then I noticed that the charge was enough for 4 days, then for 3 days, then no notifications about calls and SMS were sent, then all the steps messed up . It just made it easier not to use because all the data was questionable (which was a secondary goal for me) and the primary goal of not getting haptic feedback on my wrist was missing. Overall, I still like the idea of wearables, but I think I'll pay a little more to find something more reliable. Also, I completely opened up when the group failed the second time around and decided it wasn't worth wasting time on customer service.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging
