Great tent for a small hatchback! We put it on our camping Prius - the back of the car fits into a large sleeve on one side of the tent. However, you can detach the car from the cover, close the tent and leave it as you drive through the day. Two straps go to the front of the car and we hooked two more around the spokes of our wheel, but this whole thing is sturdy enough that we didn't feel the need to fasten it. We slept in the car and used the tent as a living and dining room, but people could also sleep in the tent. However, I used string to hold the Prius sunroof about 6 inches lower than its fully open position, as it seemed to fit the tent better that way. You also need to make sure the tent fits snugly under the car if you are in a buggy environment.
