Of course it's big! The reason for this is that it has a large number of pads that are specially tailored for the Sonicare 2 series toothbrush. And it has space for a charger. If I needed a smaller case I would buy other plastic cases sold by Revain. But then the charger should be packed separately in my bag. I prefer to keep them together. Perhaps the cushion can be changed to shrink a bit resulting in a smaller case size. But that's ok as that is IMO. The published dimensions are correct. Happy with my purchase. Five stars because it protects my toothbrush, even though it's not the most expensive of the Sonicare line.
