โ I bought this thermos because it's wider than usual at the top. Most thermos and other brands of thermos have narrow mouths/top openings that are ideal for liquids but are not suitable for food, especially solids and solids. โ It comes with a small lid (except for the resealable lid/cap) that can be used as a food bowl or liquid cup. โ I rinsed the thermos with hot water and vinegar (after cleaning it with warm soapy water) when I received it to remove any unwanted factory residue and prepare it for food and liquids. โ I first used it to carry hot coffee. I pour boiling water into the thermos for about 10 minutes before filling it with coffee to keep the thermos warm longer. Also, after making coffee in the coffee maker and adding cream (or milk, honey, etc. etc.) I always heat the coffee in a separate aluminum/steel jug so that the contents are hot enough after a few hours. especially when I know I'll be drinking coffee in 5+ hours. (and sometimes tea or hot chocolate). This step avoids the frustration that comes with trying to have a lukewarm drink instead of a hot one, defeating the purpose of carrying a hot drink in the first place. โ I poured coffee at 6:45 in the morning. At 3:30 p.m. it was still relatively hot when I decided to have a drink. It didn't keep the coffee as hot as, say, a zujirushi bottle, but it still stayed warm enough in cold winter weather. โ The main reason I bought this item was to carry groceries with me, mainly semi-solid foods and soups. I carried meatballs, stew and soup in it. Like hot drinks, I reheat meatballs/soups/stews in a separate steel/aluminum pot and once the contents are hot enough (heat them as hot as you can so you don't get frustrated after a few hours) pour them into a Thermos. โ I poured meatballs at 6.40 in the morning. I ate a late lunch at 1:45pm and the contents were still hot enough to enjoy. The wide mouth allowed me to put the meatballs in and take them out when it was time for dinner. โ I have also carried ice cubes in it and it has worked well. In fact, after 24 hours, the ice barely broke apart despite the high ambient temperature. These thermos flasks keep very cold food/food/drinks cold better than hot food/drinks. โ Buy it, but always pour boiling water into the bottle for at least 10 minutes before pouring out the contents. Also, heat food to a temperature higher than you would normally eat/drink. For example, do not brew coffee, vegetable stew or soup at normal eating/drinking temperatures, then pour the contents into a thermos and expect the contents to be as hot as before 6-7 hours after pouring. .
