We bought this to replace the latch on the front door. We have a sweet son with a number of diagnoses who has absolutely no risk assessment skills, poor impulse control and a complete inability to understand the dangers of the roads outside of our home and therefore navigate safely. So, to be perfectly clear, if we hadn't had a way of keeping him inside that he couldn't defeat, he probably wouldn't have survived outside of our home on his own. We had a gate blocking the front door which he couldn't open because his fine motor skills weren't developed for it, but he became strong enough to detach them from the wall brackets and he has recently gained the ability to detach the we had as a backup plan. Currently he can't select a specific key for a specific lock from the queue, let alone put a key in the lock, so we've replaced the deadbolt with this as a fallback layer of protection for him. We chose this color because it goes perfectly with our other fittings. Installation was easy enough, my husband did it for us. Both keys supplied work and the key was copied well as we made a copy for our daughter to have one too. I had some lock keys that didn't copy well, so yeah it's really a thing. My only comment on this is for those of you who are super picky about aesthetics. There are these little metal caps that go over the screws to hide them and make the lock more attractive/less an eyesore. If you look at the one on the right, note the visible crescent of the screw located under the cover. So this could be due to a couple of things, I made sure the screw was seated correctly. This whole page seems to be a bit bigger. To be honest, given what you now know about my son, I'm sure you can understand why I didn't deduct that from it. I have way bigger issues this makes this lock great now and it might be the ugliest thing in the world and as long as it keeps it secure it will be a 5 star lock system in my book. . And chances are, most people won't notice. Unless you're a bit like me and he calls after you practically every time you walk past him ;) In that case, all I can say is that I don't know how common this situation is with this castle. model, but we have experienced that.
