Not sure why this privacy filter has so many one star reviews. To me this seems to work pretty much as advertised as it effectively blocks the view from the sides. Of course, the filter doesn't offer much privacy when someone is looking at the screen directly behind the user. However, if the filter were effective enough to block views directly from behind, the user would not be able to see the screen either. The installation process is very simple and involves attaching some sticky pieces of plastic to the monitor and sliding the filter. A few points to note: In general, the filter naturally makes the screen darker for the user, as I've found that increasing the brightness fundamentally helps solve this problem. For those who like a very bright screen and are already at max brightness, an initial adjustment may be necessary. The filter is low reflective, so there may be glare when there is a light source close to the monitor. This can be fixed by flipping the filter from the shiny side to the matte side. My biggest issue with this filter is the price. $85 for 22 inches seems pretty outrageous. Although, to be honest, the competition's products are only marginally cheaper. Of course I don't know the material and production costs, associated with the manufacture of this item, but the price still seems much higher than common sense would suggest, so I suspect some "profit maximization" is occurring as a result of patents. In general,
