HIGH QUALITY, GOOD PRICE, GOOD RADIO

AM OPERATION: ALL TESTS WERE PERFORMED INSIDE A MEDIUM HOUSE ON GROUND FLOOR. I WAS WITHIN 2 FEET TO 3 FEET OF RADIO LISTENING DISTANCE. RADIO MADE IN CHINA; WEIGHT 1 LB - 10 OZ WITHOUT 3-D BATTERIES. FIRST, LEAVE THIS (AND OTHER) NEW RADIO ON FOR A TIME, POSSIBLY 30 MINUTES, BEFORE VERIFYING ANY OF ITS FUNCTIONS. I LIVE 60 MILES SOUTH OF CHICAGO AND MOST OF THESE 20 STATIONS ARE NORTH OF WHERE I ARE LOCATED, JUST ONE STATION IN THE CITY WHERE I LIVE. SOME POINTS OF LOW POWER HAD SMALL BACKGROUND NOISE BUT WAS AUDIBLE. THE RADIO MUST BE TURNED (ROTATION) TO TURN THE STATION FULLY ON, REGARDLESS OF THE STATION'S DISTANCE TO THE RADIO. LOW (LOW)/HIGH (HF) TONE WORKS GREAT BUT I PREFER LOW FOR NEWS ON THIS RADIO. HIGH IS USUALLY FOR MONO VOICE AND BASS FOR MUSIC. MANY STATIONS HAVE VERY LOW TO LOW BACKGROUND STATIC, WAIT FOR NEAREST STATION (A FEW MILES FROM RADIO) (HANDS) WORKING PROPERLY. I NEVER OPEN THE CASE IF IT IS NOT BROKEN, DO NOT REPAIR. I NEVER PUT A BATTERY IN THIS RADIO THAT YOU CAN MAKE IT MOBILE BY SIMPLY POWERING IT FROM AC POWER. I HAVE NEVER TESTED THE RADIO WITH THE HEADPHONES, IT IS DESIGNED FOR THE HEADSET/PHONE JACK. LUCKY FOR YOU FM LISTENERS I DID NOT USE THIS RADIO IN FM MODE SO I CANNOT COMMENT. THE TELESCOPE OUTDOOR ANTENNA IS FOR FM ONLY AND DOES NOTHING FOR AM WHAT IS RIGHT IT IS FM ANTENNA ONLY.THE OLD TRANSISTOR WAS $5 AND THIS RADIO IS CA PRICE RATING BUT I HAVE SEVERAL MUCH HIGHEST RADIO STATIONS IN MY LIFE A RADIO OF THIS QUALITY BUT FOR NORMAL, SHORT LISTENING TO LOCAL STATIONS IT WORKS WELL FOR THIS PURPOSE FOR ALL THE REASONS GIVEN ABOVE I RECOMMEND THIS RADIO RETEKESS MODEL TR604.

Pros
  • AM FM Radio; FM radio can meet your needs for listening to music or talk shows if you live in the city; AM is a good helper for listening to the radio if you live in a rural or mountainous area away from the city. but be careful to avoid electronic interference.
Cons
  • Very Expensive
