My 3 year old and I really enjoy this marble walkway! We fell in love with her immediately. I was looking for a marble walkway that was durable and interesting at the same time. Many of the plastic marble studs I've tested have proven to not be very strong or stick together too well. In addition, you hear the sound of plastic rather than the more pleasant sound of wood. I also looked at the Blocks and Marbles set which is made out of wood and while it seemed solid it didn't have the refined musical qualities of this one and the marbles were quite small. The Quadrilla set was the sweet spot between the two: durability and great features! My 3 year old has always loved mazes and puzzles and although I thought he might be a bit young for that, he turned out to be a hit. It's too advanced for him to build something complex, but he ended up building a single-tier structure himself that worked. Here are some of the pros and cons: used (if you're familiar with the Channel Craft Toy Tin Marbles Game, they're the same size) - the blocks have different functions (straight down, toggle, left/right, down) - however, the ball didn't get stuck - Many different designs, limited only by your imagination - The rails are flat, but the balls easily overcome them with the boost of the red parts - Musical tones are fun to play, and each gives a different note ( A, B, C, D, E, G) Cons: - He's easy to knock down if you hit him, but his guards don't sit too close together either. Each of the blocks has an edge that fits into the block below. This gives him more stability. This set makes a great addition to other Quadrilla marble sets. You can also use it on its own, but there's a lot more to it when you mix it with a basic set or something more advanced like the Twist set. This is also the only set that includes trays for catching balls on the bottom. It would be great if they sold them as separate accessories, but at least this is the only set that includes them. Notes are played as the ball hits one of the xylophone bells as it makes its way down the marble aisle. You can mix and match them to play different notes, or buy a few sets to create a score. This set contains the following items: 2 red blocks, 1 orange block, 2 blue blocks, 1 natural block, 6 cut blocks. yellow blocks, 6 red dividers (for yellow blocks), 15 purple blocks, 7 natural bottom blocks, 5 hole covers, 4 rectangular accelerators, 4 semi-rectangular accelerators, 4 round accelerators, 5 standard accelerators, 1 red xylophone button (G), 1 orange xylophone button ( A), 1 yellow xylophone button (B), 1 green xylophone button (C), 1 blue xylophone button (D), 1 turquoise xylophone button (E), 20 marbles. I can not say. enough. Love love love this marble walkway! This is a quality marble set that will provide you and your family with many years of fun.
