I took this to install in one of my kitchen outlets as I needed a USB plug for a small kitchen tool (everything is USB powered these days) but I want one it doesn't give up the whole connector for the usb device. This little socket system did the trick, I know it's supposed to have a phone holder but it has YMMV in it because it's not very long so it depends on what phone you have. I don't need this "feature" either, but I just wanted to test it myself for the purpose of testing. Overall, this is a 3-prong surge protector/adapter and has worked well for me since I plugged it in. I got my boyfriend a bigger one and he had no problem with it either, so far so good.
