After using it for a while, I feel I can write a review about it. I wanted a bread bin because I needed to store my bread in the cupboard (to protect it from the cat getting in everything) and the bread was taking up cupboard space. However, we can have a few open loaves of bread at any moment, or a loaf and a few English muffins - all of which must be protected from a marauding cat. So I was looking for a large bread box. It was the only option I could find within my limited budget. It's big enough to hold 1-2 loaves of bread and another pack of English muffins or bagels, depending on the size of the pack. Bread machine loaves are slightly wider than store-bought ones, and we can't put two of those loaves in at once. The footprint of the box is not large enough to take up much counter space. The idea of the lid being able to be used as a cutting board is reasonable and maybe so, but I would use the underside so the lid doesn't get scratched. The metal case is a little flimsy and I wouldn't recommend dropping it or hitting it with anything. It seems that it can be easily crushed. So I've lowered my original four stars to three. It's probably worth the cost, at least for my purposes, but if you're looking for something sophisticated and trendy I'd look elsewhere.
