Review on 🚿 American Standard 1660717.295 Water-Saving Shower with Transitional 3-Function, in Brushed Nickel Finish by Patricia Mendoza

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Met my expectations

I used to make the mistake of buying one of those cheap Glacier Bay 1.6 GPM shower heads from Home Depot to replace a Moen 2.5 gallon a minute shower head that This American Standard shower head resembles. While the cheap nozzle saved water, most of the time the water came out as a hard mist with a wild pattern and the overall shower experience was sub-par. After researching a few here on Revain I came across this pup. I'm generally a fan of American Standard because I've always found their products to be high quality and with good features. We installed two new American Standard toilets in an hourly repair a few years ago and they work like new. This American standard shower head is of high quality. It's solidly built, and the shifter doesn't feel cheap in any way. I'm more than happy with the default Eco setting, which is 1.6 GPM. It offers a very soothing shower with more than adequate coverage. The other two settings are fine too, but I don't see much of an advantage over the Eco settings and they use a lot more water. Some other family members switched to other settings at first but now they say they usually leave it on Eco because they are used to the spray, it feels good and they feel good because it saves me money and it's a bit better for the environment . In addition, there is enough warm water so that the next person can also enjoy a warm shower. The great thing is that American Standard was able to develop a mechanism that allows the head to automatically return to its default eco settings after the water is turned off. This means that the next user has to manually switch to a less efficient setting. I only gave it a 4 star rating because I'm not entirely sure if this head actually sprays 1.6 GPM. Significantly more water collects on the shower floor than a cheap 1.6 GPM Home Depot showerhead. I'll test it with a good old labeled bucket. Spraying in Eco mode is a bit wild too. It does an excellent job of controlling the flow of water, but I've found that if you turn on the shower and leave the shower door open for a minute, water droplets collect on the bathroom floor. In less efficient modes, this doesn't happen as the jet is directed more through the surrounding nozzles. If it's 1.6 GPM, then American Standard did a fantastic job pushing that shower head out without sacrificing the "feel" of the water jet.
