We have used the backpack for cycling around town a few times and have not had any shoulder or neck discomfort. The package stays tight and secure. In the backpack we carried keys, tools, snacks, phones, a wallet and a bike lock. It also came in handy when we picked up a random item or two a few times during our bike rides. We had a heat wave but the backpack kept the water cool. The hose is a good length for sipping while driving without taking your eyes off the road. The bladder is easy to clean and dry (we use a locking clip to keep the bladder opening open). The hose is easy to clean and dry by simply detaching it from the bladder and removing the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece was very durable and did not leak. If there were a kid's version of this pack, we'd have it in a heartbeat. Very happy with this purchase.
