I bought 3M filters for a company I worked for 10 years ago, they worked great and were very expensive. I didn't think of buying it for myself knowing the price was prohibitive. So I was pleasantly surprised when I saw these at affordable prices. I got one right away. In short, this filter doesn't work as I recall. I currently hold my laptop at an angle of over 45 degrees from the vertical and can see the entire screen perfectly. At around 60 degrees I see shadows on the other side of the screen. The screen only goes dark very close to 90 degrees. I said dark, not empty. You can still see graphics on it. So this works if you're trying to block someone from reading your email, but aren't trying to block them from seeing your photos. I remember back then I wouldn't have seen anything if I wasn't perfectly aligned with my filter. . Also, with a wide screen, the edges of the filter get darker, even when ideally placed in front of it. If you were to walk across the screen with a privacy filter on you would be scared because the screen seems to turn on and off very quickly as you walk by, the angle was so narrow. That's what I wanted. This is not a privacy screen. This is a glare screen if anything. I'm still completely open. To make matters worse, I had to crop this filter to my screen, and I did that before testing it. That's why I can't return it. Generally very disappointed. This is a 14 inch filter and comes with one screen aspect ratio only. I was so thrilled I got a second filter for my 23" screen. It's still on the way. I'll update the review as soon as I get it. I hope it's gotten better or I'll be sending it back right away. Edit : I received the 23" filter and am very happy with it. Looking back, I remember the filters I bought were framed and spaced about 1 inch apart. in front of the screen. This gave them a much narrower angle. If you need a tighter angle, you can still get one of these. This also comes with clear double-sided adhesive tapes that attach directly to the screen instead of adhesive placeholders for the monitor frame. It's much nicer! I was worried they would be too conspicuous, but even if they can still be seen, they're not obtrusive at all. You also get a set of frames if you decide to use them, but I liked double sided tape better. They don't look that ugly and don't stand out that much. I like the 23" filter a lot better than the smaller one. It looks sharper than the 14" although I now think I'm a little biased in not liking the small one right away. The field of view still shines on both too far but for short distances like on a plane I think it's ok. On a desktop like mine it seems a bit wide. So I keep my filters, buyers haven't regretted it. Much Happiness.
