It has a front, many only have a back, if it's a shelf then it's a bag.
I like it, it serves its purpose. I carry a 36 ounce Yeti with me at all times and keep it in my bag, so it was important that it also had a front. I didn't attach velcro to my console, it wobbles freely. I was afraid the velcro would ruin my console. I keep my bag and iPad in it. It was great on the way.
