Guardians reviews were originally reviews of model: CY-1 (pre 2017) The newer Guardian colors (post 2016) were designed to be more profitable make them cheaper to reduce their costs. They replaced their 2nd generation Contractor model CY-1 domes (Y stands for yellow earbuds). High frequencies are more distorted. Foam tips are less sound deadening and don't stay inside. You have less bass. The plug is cheaper and causes static electricity. The plastic part of the earpiece lets more outside noise through. Looks like they spent more money on a new extra storage bin that I don't use. The company continues to sell its first generation, dubbed "Basic", but it's not designed for full-range music, it's only good for taking phone calls. I've been using the 2nd generation model CY-1 for over 2 years and they work great. Yes, if you pull the wires, you'll ruin them. My friend went through 3 sets to my 1 set but I am careful with them. Something else. Since Plugfones Guardian is a new model, different from Plugfones 2nd Generation, Model: CY-1, the company should not use 2nd Generation, Model: CY-1 reviews to promote Guardian. To me that is very unfair.
