The case has a peculiar smell, but it will dissipate after a few days of use. The biggest deterrent with this product was the lack of instructions. It took me a while to figure out how to place the shell, but once it was done my laptop looked fine. The protective film on the keyboard is also fine, the color is excellent. However, it tends to rise at the edges, but rarely does. The case was a nice touch too, especially since the waterproof material protects it from rain that might get into my regular backpack.
