They were added to my RV to provide decorative lighting and because I'm too lazy to get out of bed to look at the ceiling turn off lighting. The red light came in handy to preserve night vision. The remote controls worked well, but they are in plain sight and could accidentally turn to another lane nearby. I'm trying to connect my phone's wifi to my phone's hotspot so when I'm camping I can just use my phone to control the lights, so far to no avail. It connects perfectly to my home wifi and then the app works. Maybe I can set up some sort of direct Wi-Fi connection. I had to pinch each end of the strip to keep it from coming loose with small paperclips. Update October 2020: My Vizio TV remote blasted the IR receiver in one of the two strips without affecting the other adjacent strip. . Pressing the volume buttons on the TV remote made the bar flash white. I was able to recover it after a few days using the IR remote for a duplicate strip I have nearby, it was unresponsive at first. Hotspot update: I was able to create a workaround to connect these bands to my Android phone's hotspot. for remote control. I have a small RV without a WiFi hotspot. I can't see these devices even after resetting my phone when the hotspot is on. So when I got home I created a guest network called ledstrips on my home wifi router with a password, wpa2, aes, and connected them to it; they work fine. I then created a hotspot on my phone with the identical SSID name ie led strips with the same password, wpa2, aes etc, they all match. When I'm not at home, the light can still connect to my phone to control it remotely without having to buy another Wi-Fi hotspot. I've been thinking about setting up a $10 hotspot for Raspberry Pi Zero, but I don't need it right now. Enjoy!
