I was very excited to try this rather expensive portable monitor but at the end of the day I was a bit disappointed. In my opinion, the monitor doesn't quite justify its high price. There is an $80 coupon at the time of review, so I think maybe the manufacturer understands that. If you can get it at that price, I think it's a lot more competitive and easily gets 4 stars instead of 3. Good: * The monitor works *mostly* in plug 'n' play mode. I can use it with my personal laptop's Thunderbolt 3 port (third-party software) without the need for an additional power adapter. * Both landscape and portrait orientations are supported. * Touchscreen works well in my tests. * There are many connection options. . The kit includes an HDMI cable, a USB-C to Type-C cable, and two Type-C to Type-C cables (one for use with the power adapter, the other for connecting the monitor to the device ).* It has speakers . To say they aren't very good is an understatement, but they are there and they work great. That's a nice bonus.* There's a fairly detailed instruction manual.* It has a fun colored backlight; You can't see it in normal use, but it's a nice addition. Cons: * For some reason, I couldn't get it to work properly with my work laptop using just a laptop-to-monitor cable (Thinkpad T14 Gen 1, which also has a Thunderbolt 3 port). I also needed a power adapter. This is unfortunate as my primary use case for this was my work laptop. Not sure what the difference is as both ports are Thunderbolt 3. Testing with my Spyder5 I got 89% sRGB, 66% NTSC, 69% AdobeRGB and 72% P3. Calibration was also required as the colors were really wrong before calibration. Admittedly, I did not test in "HDR" mode, which brings me to the next point. * No true HDR. My laptop's display supports HDR and is recognized as such by Windows. This external display is not. It has an "HDR" toggle in the menu that makes the colors more vibrant (oversaturated might be more accurate), but it's not compatible with HDR apps/streaming services etc.* No carrying case. This is a major downside as the whole point of a monitor like this is to be very portable. I wouldn't feel good if I threw this in a backpack or something; It seems like scratching the screen is very easy unless you accidentally damage something. * The kickstand on the back seems a little flimsy and a bit difficult to use (every time I try to extend it for portrait mode use, I'm afraid it will break due to its rigidity, for example). So far so good, but I'm deliberately being extra careful. Ugly: * The menu is a bit awkward to use/navigate. All in all, it's not a 'bad' monitor - if you have a use case for it (you travel a lot for work, or it might come in handy to take to school, or whatever you have), it's quite good cute. However, I wouldn't want to use it for work that requires high color fidelity. I hope there is something odd about my ThinkPad; Since it works fine with my Alienware and all other browsers had no problems, I'm guessing it could be something unique to this ThinkPad model, or maybe a driver issue or something. The big issue I have is the price (if you can get it with a bigger coupon it's much more competitive), the lack of a good way to transport it and the specs don't quite match what was advertised . You can definitely get portable monitors that are better in certain areas BUT they are often worse in other areas. The best part is that it has a ton of stuff and a lot of ticks, although it's not the best at all of those things. If you can get it for the retail price I see on review then I think it's much more competitive and easily gets 4 stars. *Edit Feb 2022 *A few additional updates after using the monitor more for work*I switched to a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Titanium Yoga for work and the monitor is working properly, just a USB-C connection to this Thinkapd *Brightness settings resets each time I use the monitor which is annoying * I've driven the monitor a bit - no scratches so far * The stand is a bit better after a few months of additional use - I no longer feel like it comes loose every once in a while I do something with it. can not support the monitor properly. They also offered a free tote bag (which I haven't accepted yet, but appreciate the thought). Considering that kickstands and travel scratches no longer seem to be an issue, it goes well with my latest work. machine and considerate customer service. Upgrading my rating to 4 stars with the caveat that if you have color sensitive work, beware of poor gamut and poor HDR implementation.
