Not a disadvantage, not a virtue - FEATURE! The backpack is THIN. The main compartment is about two laptops thick, if you carry something besides the laptop itself and the power supply to it, it can be cramped. There are two more smaller compartments, but they are also relatively thin, but the same umbrella, for example, fits in without the slightest problem. I took it under the laptop and am very pleased!
