I used these locks on a month trip to Africa and never had a problem with them. They feel solid, they've always closed/opened with no issues, and the TSA has never clipped my pockets. Some people here are frustrated with the ability to "feel" the combo, but I have to say I couldn't really do it. I tried for a while when I first got them but to no avail. Anyway, I think these people have unrealistic expectations of these locks. I put them on top of my trunks, not to build a mobile fortress for my belongings, but to deter anyone trying to steal something. The thing is, if a thief looks at a bag with no locks or a bag with locks, they won't waste time looking at the locks. It's too risky and too time consuming. It definitely made me feel safe walking through different cities because I locked the parts of my backpack with essentials so I knew someone wouldn't be able to unzip and get inside. This pack was also great because it had so much in it that I was very flexible as to how many sections I could zip up at any given time!
