Review on 🧡 Janome 1/4" Seam Foot for Enhanced Sewing Precision on Horizontal Rotary Hook Models by Amber Perez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not quite 1/4 inch for sewing

I bought this foot for my Janome Harmony 8080. It fits perfectly and the needle goes through the center of the hole. This is great because I bought a Singer foot. (and returned) had no holes in the right place. Here's the problem: the edge guide is a thin piece of metal that doesn't sit flush with the foot. It is offset about 1/16 inch. When sewing a complex block, problematic connections and sub-units are of different sizes. I got around this by ignoring the edge guide (which I can remove entirely) and using the edge of the foot itself as my 1/4", which is fairly accurate, if not a close 1/4". The edge guide also bends easily, making it virtually unusable. Overall 3 out of 5 stars mainly because other 1/4 inch feet I tried didn't work with my machine. The disadvantages of the Harmony 8080 design is that due to the design of the shank, the tabs on the presser feet are 1/8 inch to the left, making it impossible to use regular presser feet.
