The case is great, strength wise I feel my pods are well protected. I chose this case for the lid locking mechanism and it works well. Note, however, that two hands are required to open the case. Here's my complaint - those reviews talk about a protrusion inside the case that pushes the reset button - they're legit! And when I got my suitcase I noticed the edge was pretty flat so I thought oh good thing they fixed that - NO! Even with a half millimeter thick protrusion sticking out, it still restarted my case! WITHOUT me clicking on it. I charged the case while my AirPods were in my ears and when I put them back in the now secure case the white reset LED came on. I shaved it off with a razor blade as others have mentioned and had no problems.
