We bought this product to replace a similar product that was beginning to rust. The quality wasn't as good as the old one we replaced. The old one had a nice clear coat on top of the paint to slow the rusting process. The new one doesn't. If you don't buy stainless steel, these shower towers will eventually rust. Our old man is 4 years old. I don't think this one will last that long considering how thin the paint is. It's very easy to peel off the paint directly during the installation process. The worst thing is that one of the 4 shelves could not be mounted because the threaded hole where the set screw is located was torn off. I tried contacting the manufacturer to see if they would replace the defective part. I couldn't get her to call me back. I gave this item 3 stars because these oiled bronze shower towers are very hard to find. We've tried every hardware store and they all sell stainless steel and plastic. We couldn't find a color that matches all other bronze bathroom fixtures. So we worked hard to keep it just because we couldn't find a better replacement anywhere else. One more note, we had trouble installing it because they only give you one adjuster to adjust the height of the shower tower. We worked on it and worked on it, it was either too short with a smaller adjustable leg or too high with a regular piece. We ended up having to make our own "fix" by clipping out one of the sections. If the manufacturer had added another ultra-short fitting piece, everything would have worked. But they only give you a very short vocal section, so you only get one possible mood.
