I ordered two duck down pillows instead of the other two. When I opened the package they were vacuum packed and quite small. I opened the plastic bag and they immediately started to puff up. I let them stand for a few minutes and then shook them up some more with my hands. They have grown to normal size. I immediately put them in pillowcases and slept on them that same night. At night, perhaps when the warmth of my body warmed the pillow, an unpleasant ducky odor emanated from the pillow. My husband didn't smell anything at night. The next morning I soaked them in the sun all day, turned them over a couple of times and now they don't smell anymore. The instructions on the box said to let them air out for 30 minutes, which I didn't do other than the flogging step. Great pillows for the price. Just follow the directions or leave it outside or near a window in the sun for a few hours before use and I doubt you'll smell it.
