Review on Dell P1917S 19-Inch Monitor: Enhanced Clarity ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ & Smooth Performance at 1280X1024 Resolution, 76Hz Refresh Rate by Sam Burkett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Increasingly rare but useful resolution/ratio ratio, high quality display, decent connectivity

As widescreen monitors have become the norm, traditional aspect ratio computer monitors have become harder to find. But while widescreen is good for gaming and video content, there are still some important use cases for higher aspect ratios. I've seen many reviewers/commentators overlook this point, but a 1280 x 1024 monitor like the Dell P1917S isn't even the classic 4:3 that has dominated desktops since at least the VGA era. It's actually 5:4, which makes it even bigger and even more square, making it good for web browsing or basic productivity tasks like word processing, where you're basically scrolling a vertical bar. It also works well as a second monitor (or a pair of additional monitors). monitors) on the sides of the large, widescreen main display. Its relatively narrow footprint means you don't feel like you're excessively moving your head left and right just to cover the entire screen area. Spreading 1280 x 1024 on a 19-inch display results in one of the highest dot pitches (largest pixel sizes). ). a screen 1/3 that size), but I find the high dot pitch less pleasing to the eye. So for me it fits perfectly. So far I've dedicated this entire review to discussing the characteristics of the monitor, not the monitor itself. This was because it's becoming an increasingly rare and hard-to-find form factor, so first, it's necessary to justify why it's desirable in the first place. With regard to this one in particular, this is one of the latest - if not the last - in a long line of 19-inch 1280 x 1024 Del L monitors. I've used several of these over the years, and in my opinion, are this the best pictures quality of all. Compared to the previous ones I've used, it also adds an HDMI input (at the expense of DVI, which can be cumbersome for some setups) and a USB 3.0 hub. I don't see this through a graphic design or gaming lens. So maybe there are potential buyers with more stringent standards for color reproduction, response time, etc. that I don't even notice, but I doubt they'll even buy a 19-inch 1280x1024 monitor. As for me, I have no major complaints. So far this monitor is performing exactly as I had hoped.
