This is not "cowhide "
The patches I received are very thin velor. If used for decorative purposes they may be fine, but the pile will wear off fairly quickly if rubbed against other surfaces. I've used it to protect half a dozen shirts I wear to work. I usually rest my elbow on the armrest of an office chair - after a dozen or so uses, the stack must show obvious signs of wear. After 30-40 washes (continuous spin, low cycle), about half of the patches come off the sleeve.
