I used this to install a 32" TCL Roku TV, installation is easy, requires a stand to be drilled ( no drywall), I didn't have to use any extensions or spacers. The bracket is off center when closed. So if your stud isn't in the center where you want it, you can adjust it a bit. I measured from the center of the TV mount and determined where the center hole of the mount should be on the wall and drilled holes for the lag screws. Please note when installing the screws on the TV, use a screwdriver and tighten them fully down, no need to over-tighten, I have used a socket for lag screws, if you find them too tight wear them Put some wax or soapy water on them. After installing it horizontally, there was an easy game, I was able to mount the TV perfectly horizontally without any problems, you can tighten the screw to make it difficult to adjust horizontally, I left everything as it is. You will need a large Phillips screwdriver, a socket extension, and a 1/8-inch bit. Also, do not overtighten the locking bolts, they just need to be tight.
