Review on Lougnee Premium Large Salad Spinner: Efficient 5-Quart Vegetable Washer with Bowl by Don Barbee

Revainrating 2 out of 5

!Loungee is too small to be practical and the BPA-free claim is questionable!

I have been using Greens Spinner for many years! I received my lougnee today and was shocked to see how small it is! It looks like a toy to me! Here are the "true" measurements: The diameter of the fallopian tube is exactly 9-1/8 inches; 5 inches high. The inner bowl is considerably smaller: 8-1/8 inches in diameter; 4-3/4 inches high. I tried it right away with a fresh bunch of romaine lettuce. I always wash and dry everything before storing in a large container in the fridge (handle carefully to avoid damaging the lettuce so I don't break and cut into pieces; I do this just before using). First, the romaine lettuce leaf might not fit in the basket without damaging it, but I bent it to fit anyway. Secondly, the rotary knob was quite difficult to turn. Third, the box it came in did NOT say it was "BPA Free" but it was made in China. NO documents or brochures were included. I have to say that despite the low price I was not impressed. Yes, it removed most of the water, but that's not enough to be practical in my opinion. I'm an older woman and most of the time I only cook for 'one' but it's too small for MY needs! I'm returning it and getting back to my quest for a spinner that's big enough to be handy, dries greens well, is durable, and the packaging says "BPA Free"! I'm willing to pay double or more than lougnee to find a spinner to match my old oxo which was such a gem! [Unfortunately, the larger OXO available today spins slowly and doesn't dry nearly as effectively as the original, leaving the greens moist.]

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • something different
