While this is a decent dog door, it is NOT easy to install. We ended up taking the door off its hinges to install it. The pieces that fit between two frames are silly and tricky to trim, luckily our door is thin enough we can get away without them. The door itself latches to close, but is difficult to remove and slide back. Bad design on that front. It's also designed to "stand up" in the up position when open, but it won't lock and the dog keeps knocking it over. Edit: Less than a year later the valve broke, the tabs that latch the door jammed and the lid broke. I ordered a replacement because I don't want to cut the door down again to a different model, but if we're forced to replace the old door we WILL NOT be buying this. Poor quality and not durable.
